Ge15 Selangor Harapan Still Negotiating Four Seats Won By Bersatu
Selangor Pakatan Harapan will conclude its seat negotiations for the upcoming 15th general election (GE15) by the end of this month with about four more state seats left for discussions.
Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari said the seats to be discussed were among those contested and won by Bersatu when it was part of Harapan during GE14 in 2018.
Bersatu has since left the coalition and formed Perikatan Nasional (PN) with PAS, Gerakan, SAPP, and Star.
“For us, what is important is that seat negotiations are almost done.
“We are left with less than four seats at the state assembly level. The Parliament seats are settled,” the Selangor PKR chief told reporters after launching Shah Alam Harapan’s election machinery this morning.
Bersatu in 2018 contested nine state seats and three parliamentary seats in Selangor. They won six and one respectively.
Of the six state seats, Bersatu lost three - Kuang, Jeram, and Batang Kali - after their incumbents joined Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s Pejuang.
Quizzed further, Amirudin (above) said at least two Harapan parties are eyeing the remaining seats, describing ongoing discussions as a normal affair.
“I’m confident we can finish the discussions before the end of September or early October,” he said.
On the issue of candidates, the Sungai Tua assemblyperson said consideration will be given to the incumbents, while also making way for new faces.
“But it is subject to the party's candidates committee and finally will involve PKR president Anwar Ibrahim,” he added. - Mkini
