Ft Minister Welcomes Probe Into Kl City Plan Land Deals
Federal Territories Minister Khalid Samad today welcomed calls for the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to probe allegedly dubious deals involving DBKL land plots under the newly gazetted Kuala Lumpur City Plan 2020
Speaking to reporters at the Parliament lobby, the Shah Alam MP said MACC has the right to probe any allegedly dubious deals by DBKL, not limited to the ones linked to the Kuala Lumpur City Plan 2020
"The MACC has the right to and is free to investigate any transactions, not limited to just the identified breaches (under the KL City Plan 2020)," said Khalid in response to Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil who made the call at a separate press conference earlier
Khalid also responded to NGO Save Kuala Lumpur that had previously expressed concern over DBKL's move to gazette the KL City Plan 2020 without prior public consultation. While confirming that he had previously met with the group's representatives and noted their request for a public display of any local plans, Khalid said he never made such a promise with regards to the KL City Plan 2020 as it was already supposed to be gazetted in 2015
"For example, when we gazette the KL City Plan 2040, we will first display the plan because it’s a draft which has yet to be implemented
"But in this case, because I took over an existing plan, therefore I just gazetted it," Khalid said in urging stakeholders to take this factor into consideration
Earlier, Fahmi said the previous government's "failure" to gazette the plan was a scandal which had negatively affected KL dwellers. He also said he had received complaints from resident groups, including Save Kuala Lumpur, on how the KL City Plan 2020 had been gazetted
Khalid previously said whatever is lacking in the city plan, will be addressed in the drafting of the structural plan 2020-2040 and city plan 2020-2040
The two masterplans will be gazetted at the end of 2020. - Mkini
