Forget Dr M Let S Move On Says Pkr Youth
(FMT) – Pakatan Harapan should “move on” from any plan to work with Dr Mahathir Mohamad following the former prime minister’s latest attack on Anwar Ibrahim, says PKR Youth.
The wing’s chief, Akmal Nasir said PH must realise that Mahathir was merely riding on the “grand coalition” idea to divide and conquer, a strategy he has employed many times in the past.
“It will not make any sense to allow this outdated strategy to break the unity and alliance of PKR and its partners in Pakatan Harapan,” he said in a statement.
Mahathir had slammed PKR president Anwar yesterday, calling him untrustworthy over unfulfilled promises, particularly his claim of having a strong and formidable majority to topple the Perikatan Nasional government.
Mahathir said this when asked to respond to Anwar’s statement that PH could collaborate with any party, even with Mahathir to form a “great, grand coalition” as long as they were aligned to the group’s principles.
Recently, Anwar said parties wanting to be part of the grand opposition coalition should not bring their personal agendas with them.
Akmal said Mahathir should be aware that he had gone back and forth on promises he had made in the run-up to the last general election.
Mahathir had promised to hand over the reins to Anwar after being appointed as the prime minister for the second time, but dithered and continued to ask for more time before resigning and bringing down the PH government in February last year.
“Tun Dr Mahathir’s attitude gives the impression that Pejuang was only formed to belittle Anwar as the opposition leader and PH chairman.”
