Fashion Policing At Covid 19 Vaccination Centres Persists Despite Complaints

The issue of Covid-19 vaccination centre staff members playing the role of fashion police is still persisting despite previous complaints.
Kluang MP Wong Shu Qi (above) said she received another three complaints today about people being barred from entering a Covid-19 vaccination centre in her constituency due to their clothing.
She said this included people wearing ripped jeans and ankle-length pants that show the ankle when sitting down.
Wong, who alerted newly minted Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin about the incidents on Twitter, asked if the staff are going overboard.
She noted that their clothing was in no way considered indecent.
"It sounds very funny that we welcome cosplay but we don’t allow ppl who wear their normal clothes from going into the vaccination centre.
"Yes, their clothes may not be the 'most modest' according to some definitions, but it is not indecent also," she said.
Wong said previously, she also received a complaint that a pregnant woman who wore a long skirt with a slight split at the edge was barred from entering the Covid-19 vaccination centre.


Last week, another Covid-19 vaccination centre in Johor was also in the news after a supervisor prevented a Covid-19 vaccine recipient from recording a video.


The supervisor cited the fact that Khairy, who was in charge of the Covid-19 vaccination efforts, was no longer a minister following the collapse of Muhyiddin Yassin's government.
Khairy had instructed all Covid-19 vaccination centres to allow video recording so that there will be evidence in the event of disputes such as underdosing or blank shot concerns.
Khairy was appointed as the new health minister under Ismail Sabri Yaakob's government and will continue to lead the Covid-19 vaccination efforts.
