Khairy Jamaluddin said the health ministry had already begun removing the vaccination status of those with fake certificates.KUALA LUMPUR: Those with fake Covid-19 vaccine certificates on MySejahtera will have their vaccination records removed, says health minister Khairy Jamaluddin.
He said the ministry will do so after the police complete their investigations, considering this was a criminal matter.
“Once we have established through the police investigations and can confirm that the vaccine certificates are fake, we will strike them out of MySejahtera,” he said during a press conference at the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) national headquarters.
Khairy said the ministry had already been removing the vaccination status of those found to be registered illegitimately.
“We leave it to the police to determine what criminal fines to place on those who bought fake vaccine certificates.
“As far as the health ministry is concerned, we will continue to offer real vaccines if the perpetrators come forward,” he said.
More than 5,600 people in Selangor alone are believed to have registered fraudulently with MySejahtera. Police have made numerous arrests throughout the country involving those hawking fake certificates.
Khairy was speaking at the launch of the Ambulance Hotspot project, a joint initiative between the health ministry, MRCS and St John’s Ambulance Malaysia.
He said RM5 million had been allocated for the project to establish another 15 ambulance hotspots at various locations nationwide.
In addition, 100 automated external defibrillators will be installed in public and private facilities nationwide, including in shopping malls and sports complexes, to improve the effectiveness of first responders. - FMT
