Explosive Videos Sabah Umno Hints At Fireworks In Final Assembly
After MACC ensured no cover-up in the corruption scandal shaking Sabah, the state Umno chapter is gearing up for a showdown in the upcoming state legislative assembly, which is expected to be the last before state polls.
ADSCiting MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki’s remarks, Sabah Umno strategic communications director Datu Rosman Datu Ahir Zaman said next week’s sitting would be the most appropriate time to debate the matter.
“The upcoming session is very likely to be the final one before the state assembly is dissolved in preparation for the 17th Sabah state election.
“Therefore, the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) government under the leadership of Chief Minister Hajiji Noor (above) must provide a thorough explanation regarding the mineral mining license corruption scandal, which has become a hot and concerning topic among all layers of society in Sabah,” he said in a statement today.

MACC chief commissioner Azam BakiRosman also thanked Azam for his assurance that the investigation into the mineral mining license corruption scandal would not be swept under the carpet.
On the same note, the Sabah Umno leader called for the arrests and prosecution of those implicated.
“The people of Sabah greatly appreciate the efforts and firm actions taken by Azam.
“They also hope MACC will make arrests in the near future and prosecute the nine “honourable” individuals in court as a lesson to all future elected representatives in Sabah,” he added.
No cover-ups
Yesterday, Azam said that MACC is waiting for the forensic analysis report into the videos which were submitted to the commission by Lawyers for Liberty (LFL) executive director Zaid Malek on March 11.
He also emphasised that the corruption allegations involving the assemblypersons are not something that can be covered up, and the investigation is ongoing.
The videos were released by a businessperson who accused the assemblypersons of accepting bribes from him in exchange for mineral exploration licences.
Hajiji has claimed that the videos were an attempt to undermine his administration and accused the whistleblower of collaborating with parties with vested interests.
The 36-year-old businessperson has also been accused of being part of a cartel seeking to monopolise mining activities in the state. - Mkini
