Ex Sb Chief Enterprise Risk Expert Join Serba Dinamik Board
Serba Dinamik Holdings has been embroiled in an audit dispute with KPMG, after the external auditor red-flagged discrepancies involving transactions.PETALING JAYA: Oil and gas services firm Serba Dinamik has announced the appointment of a former Special Branch chief and an enterprise risk expert to its board of directors.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Serba Dinamik said Mohamed Farid Abu Hassan and Siti Zaleha Sulaiman had been appointed independent non-executive directors effective today.
The appointment of Farid and Siti Zaleha comes amid Serba Dinamik’s slight share price resurgence as it moves to address some hotly disputed audit issues raised by its former external auditor.
The latest appointments are expected to give Serba Dinamik a boost in its effort to address the issues, building on the formal appointment of Ernst & Young Consulting Sdn Bhd (EY) as a special independent reviewer.
Farid, who last served as the Bukit Aman Special Branch director, holds a masters in Strategic and Security Analysis from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).
The career cop who spent 42 years in the force also attended security and intelligence courses in the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia before retiring last month with the rank of commissioner.
Siti Zaleha is a certified enterprise risk management professional who holds a masters in Computer Science from the University of Miami. She has held senior positions in Bank Negara and Bursa Malaysia in a career spanning nearly three decades. She last served as Bursa Malaysia’s head of corporate risk management.
Siti Zaleha also sits on the board of Aimflex Berhad as an independent non-executive director.
Serba Dinamik has been embroiled in an auditing dispute with KPMG after the latter highlighted discrepancies involving transactions worth RM4.54 billion to the company’s independent directors last month, based on the financial accounts for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2020.
Serba Dinamik said it saw no issues with the existence or legitimacy of the contracts. The dispute has since gone to court with the company filing a lawsuit against KPMG on June 22, claiming that the auditor “negligently red-flagged some issues”.
On June 24, Serba Dinamik announced that KPMG had resigned as its auditor. - FMT
