SINGAPORE: A small crowd gathered at Marsiling Market this morning as Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, along with his teammates Alex Yam, Zaqy Mohamad and Hany Soh, arrived at the market at about 8.55am to thank residents for their support.
Residents lined up to congratulate and shake hands with PM Wong and his team.
One resident was seen pulling PM Wong and each of his teammates into a bear hug.
At Beo Crescent Market in Jalan Besar GRC, supporters welcomed the PAP team with garlands in a show of appreciation before the MP-elects went on to thank voters for their support.

All smiles, the PAP team – led by Minister for Digital Development and Information Josephine Teo and comprising Ms Denise Phua, Dr Wan Rizal Wan Zakariah and newcomer Shawn Loh – was seen meeting and shaking hands with residents at the market.
When the PAP team asked which was the best stall in the market, 79-year-old See Kim Hong said: “Prawn noodles! Unfortunately, they are not open today.”
MP-elects for Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC, led by Transport Minister Chee Hong Tat, headed to coffee shops and the market in Bishan Street 11 to thank residents.
The team includes political newcomers Elysa Chen and Cai Yinzhou, as well as incumbent MP Saktiandi Supaat.
When a resident asked Chee if he felt stressed during the election, Chee responded: “Stressed, of course stressed!”
Heading west, the West Coast-Jurong West GRC PAP team members led by National Development Minister Desmond Lee began their rounds this morning to express gratitude to voters for their support.
The team, which includes political newcomers Cassandra Lee and orthopaedic surgeon Hamid Razak, was seen speaking to residents and thanking them at Block 964 Jurong West Street 91 at about 8.30am today.
Higher results mean higher responsibility, says Marsiling-Yew Tee MP-elect Alex Yam
Over at Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC, MP-elects Alex Yam, Hany Soh, Zaqy Mohamad and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong went around Marsiling Market this morning, greeting and thanking residents.
Speaking to ST, Yam said the election results are a “strong sign of support for PM (Wong)’s agenda”, but a “higher result means higher responsibility for us to deliver on what we promised for our residents”.
The first of many victory parades kicked off at about 8.30am today. The PAP MP-elects for Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC and Marymount SMC thanked residents while on an open-top bus.
Meanwhile, MP-elects for East Coast GRC began their open-top bus tour of the constituency at about 8.40am.
Led by Culture, Community and Youth Minister Edwin Tong, the team is slated to hit East Coast's major markets and public spaces, where they will alight to meet and greet residents. Their journey is expected to end at about noon.

In my view, US President Donald Trump’s threat to the world order and a strong “ground game” gave PAP the mandate it wanted.
The message – that now is not the time for political experimentation – resonated powerfully, materialising in election results best characterised as total dominance for the PAP.
As PAP activists put it, the strong results must be attributed mainly to continued efforts to work the ground – elections here, they say, are won through addressing constituents’ daily concerns, and establishing reputations as consistent deliverers on municipal matters, not merely orators.
In a Facebook post early this morning, Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong said the results from GE2025 showed that Singaporeans understood it was crucial to come together to deal with the immense challenges ahead.
“We showed unambiguously our support for PM (Lawrence Wong) and his 4G team,” said SM Lee.
He added it was vital that PM Wong win a good mandate in this election to show Singaporeans, and the world, that he has the full support of a united nation. “This election result achieves that,” said SM Lee.
He added that the PAP government under PM Wong will “do its best to serve you” and urged Singaporeans to come together to “show what Singapore can do”.
Historically, the PAP's national vote share dips after a new prime minister takes office, but Prime Minister Lawrence Wong reversed the trend this time. He secured a clear - and unexpected - mandate of 65.57 per cent yesterday.
When Lee Hsien Loong led the PAP into battle for the first time in 2006, the party's vote share slipped nearly 9 percentage points. The PAP's vote share also fell in the 1991 election, which was Goh Chok Tong's first general election as prime minister.
In contrast, PM Wong improved on the ruling party's 2020 vote share of 61.23 per cent.
What explains the electorate's huge swing in the PAP's favour this year? It was partly the PAP's characterisation of what was at stake: Vote for us to give Singapore its best shot at navigating a turbulent world. - The Straits Times/ANN
