Durian Land Row Mcmc Probes Post On Marvel Metals In Raub
The dispute over land in Raub, Pahang, between durian farmers and the state government took a novel twist today.
ADSThe MCMC announced that it is probing a social media post using an AI-generated image that created a "negative perception" among the public about the disputed durian farms.
However, while the poster did not disclaim that the image was fake, the posting in question is fictional in nature.
The posting being probed, as Malaysiakini understands, claims that besides Musang King durian, the lands also have "vibranium and adamantium".
"The Avengers and Wakanda will descend after this," the poster said on Facebook.
Accompanying the post is a picture of durian trees, with a large mining operation in the background.

MCMC questioning the individual over a fake AI photo of land encroachmentVibranium and adamantium are fictional metals from Marvel Comics and movies from the studio, with the former being sourced almost exclusively from the also fictional African nation of Wakanda.
Vibranium is the metal used to make Captain America's shield, while adamantium is a metal alloy most famous for being bound to fictional mutant Wolverine's bones.
MCMC not compromising
In its statement today, the MCMC said it had recorded the statement of the poster at the Ampang Jaya district police office yesterday and that a phone had been seized.
The case is being investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act, which is punishable with a fine up to RM500,000 or up to two years in prison, or both.
"The MCMC will not compromise, and stern action will be taken against any individual who misuses social media to spread fake comments or posts," it said.
Comments on the offending post indicate that the image was created by AI and was first posted on a Facebook group where such artificially generated images are posted.

The original post, which clearly stated the image was fake, joked that a new highway was being built at a secret location.
The Pahang government is attempting to reclaim unlicensed durian farms on a large scale through a joint venture between state statutory body Perbadanan Kemajuan Pertanian Negeri Pahang and royalty-linked private company Royal Pahang Durian Resources.
This has led to clashes with farmers who claim they have worked the land for decades and have tried for decades to get proper paperwork from the state government. - Mkini
