Dry Run Held Ahead Of Selangor S Vaccination Programme Launch

The Selangor government rolled out its “Vaksin Selangor” programme at selected locations today. This is two days ahead of its scheduled June 28 launch.
According to the Selgate Group, a state government-owned company (GLC), vaccines were administered from 2pm to 8pm today at three shopping centres (Tropicana Gardens Mall, Aurora Mall, Evo Mall), one hotel (De Palma Shah Alam), one sports complex (PKNS Kelana Jaya), one community hall (Dewan Seri Siantan Selayang) and Selcare private clinics.
It did not specify which of the 13 Selcare clinics were used as vaccine dispensing centres (PPVs) today. Malaysiakini has contacted Selgate for more information.

Selgate said Vaksin Selangor will run from 9am to 8pm from tomorrow onwards. 
It will be expanded to all Selcare clinics across Kuala Lumpur and Selangor and aside from Dewan Siantan, five other community halls will also be turned into PPVs.

They are: Dewan Dato’ Ahmad Razali (Ampang), Dewan Sri Cempaka (Kajang), Dewan Komuniti Serin (Cyberjaya), Dewan Banting Baru (Banting) and Dewan Majlis Daerah Kuala Selangor (Kuala Selangor).
This means the programme will involve 24 PPVs in total.
Dry run before launch
When contacted, Selangor state executive councillor (public health, unity, women and family development) Siti Mariah Mahmud said today was a Vaksin Selangor “dry run”.


“They did a dry run today before opening the other PPVs. Today was just for the dry run,” she told Malaysiakini.
The official launch will proceed this coming Monday as planned, she added.
Siti Mariah confirmed that the vaccines administered will be Sinovac’s Coronavac which the state government directly purchased from federal GLC Pharmaniaga.
Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari previously said the state government spent RM200 million to buy about 2.5 million vaccines.
Through Vaksin Selangor, the state government aims to speed up Covid-19 vaccinations in the frontline state.
Despite having the highest number of Covid-19 cases and deaths nationwide, Selangor lags in terms of vaccination rates.


The initiative is supposed to complement Putrajaya’s ongoing National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NIP). For example, those vaccinated under Vaksin Selangor will have their status updated on their MySejahtera app.
Unlike free vaccines under the NIP, the initiative allows businesses to buy access to vaccines for their employees through the Selangkah platform.
According to Selgate's FAQs (frequently asked questions), the vaccines will “soon” be made available to individuals, families and healthcare facilities.
It did not specify if recipients in these categories will have to pay to be vaccinated.
A Selgate infographic also indicated that those in the Vaksinasi Rakyat stream will need to possess a certain voucher or activation code.

The state government has appointed Selgate to implement Vaksin Selangor.

The latter previously announced it was working with Health Ministry GLC ProtectHealth Corporation Sdn Bhd to train personnel for the programme. - Mkini
