Don T Use Myppp Logo In Camerons Faction Leader Tells Kayveas
CAMERONS POLLS | The leader of a faction within MyPPP, Maglin Dennis D'Cruz, says he has no issues with rival faction leader M Kayveas contesting in the Cameron Highlandsby-election, but insists he cannot do so under the party banner
"I am against it. He can contest in the Cameron Highlands by-election, but do not use the MyPPP name or logo
"It is still a disputed issue with the Registrar of Societies, so I don't think the Election Commission will allow him to use (the MyPPP logo) anyway," he told Malaysiakini when contacted today
D'Cruz added that he would gather his supporters in protest if Kayveas does use the party logo for the Jan 26 polls
"Let him (Kayveas) get damaged in Cameron Highlands, going up against two giants
"MIC is very popular there, and Pakatan Harapan is so strong now. Who is he to challenge them?"Though D'Cruz still considers his faction of MyPPP as a part of BN, he noted that he has yet to decide which candidate to back in the by-election
This, he added, would depend on the issues raised during the campaign period – which begins on Jan 12 – and whether these prioritise the welfare of the people. Kayveas, the disputed party president, announced yesterday that he would stand in Cameron Highlands with the full support of the MyPPP supreme council. He had previously lobbied hard for the seat in the 14th general election, but the BN candidacy was given to MIC's C Sivaraajh instead, who went on to emerge victorious. However, the Election Court later declared the seat vacant after determining that vote-buying had led to Sivarraajh’s win
'Rightful president'Kayveas also insisted yesterday that he is the rightful MyPPP chief, referring to an internal party tussle between the two factions aligned to him and D'Cruz
He claimed that ROS had recognised him as the legitimate president and instructed him to meet with D'Cruz to "settle" the issue
“I have been called by the registrar who said ‘you are the president, please settle with D'Cruz’
“I called D'Cruz, we had three meetings and he doesn’t want to settle. That is up to him,” he said
D'Cruz denied this, telling Malaysiakini that Kayveas was the one who approached ROS with the idea of settling the issue
"Three times we met, but nothing (came out of it). To me, the president seat is still empty." - Mkini
