Bachok MP Mohd Syahir Che Sulaiman has hit back at his Kepong counterpart Lim Lip Eng, saying that the DAP lawmaker should not sow toxic and paranoid politics.
This comes after the Kepong MP said he was appreciative of PAS support in the wake of a death threat against his party colleague Teresa Kok but could not help but point out the perils of toxic politics planted by the Islamist party.
In response to this, Syahir (above) quoted an Arabic proverb which means, "He who hit me, suddenly he is the one who cries. He who wronged me, suddenly he is the one who complains".
“Don't easily accuse PAS of sowing the seeds of hatred, let alone point the finger at PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.
“We can also say, what DAP is reaping today, is the seed sown by Lim Kit Siang and Karpal Singh before,” the PAS lawmaker said in a statement today.
“To Lip Eng, I leave a message, ‘you reap what you sow’. Do not sow paranoid politics, toxic politics, parasitic politics in this green land,” he added, in an apparent reference to PAS’ party colours.
Kepong MP Lim Lip EngYesterday, Lip Eng said that PAS leaders continue to be instrumental in sowing hatred against DAP with their vitriol, which can radicalise impressionable minds.
He cited Hadi’s speech in the recent Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election campaign, where he accused DAP of plotting to dilute Malay political power.
‘Stop provocation’
On the threat against Kok, Syahir said that history would be a witness.
“PAS has never approved, let alone influenced, the actions of extremists and terrorists.
“PAS' approach is to ‘educate, invite, and warn’, everything in accordance with the law and the democratic process,” he added.
It should be noted that prominent PAS leaders have expressed support for Afghanistan’s Taliban regime which has twice seized power through violence and has been linked to terrorist activity.
