Does Pas Want To Be Like North Korea Where Every Decision Has To Be Accepted Unanimously

DAP lawmaker Lim Lip Eng has hit out at PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man over the latter’s “absurd statement” by accusing the Urban Regeneration Act (URA) of being an agenda to remove certain races and pave the way for local authority elections.
On this note, the two-term Kepong MP accused PAS of having increasingly run out of issues to the point of having to peddle cheap racial myths to scare the rakyat.
“PAS needs to stop fooling the people with shallow conspiracy theories. URA is not an evil plan but a government effort to ensure that the people enjoy a better life,” countered Lim in a statement.
“If you follow PAS’ logic, development cannot be carried out even until the end of time. Only in North Korea is every decision accepted unanimously without any objection.”
For context, Tuan Ibrahim has objected to the URA by contending that the proposed law is a subtle tactic to remove poor Malays from continuing to settle in urban areas.
Moreover, the Kubang Kerian MP contended that the existing laws are already sufficient to manage issues related to urban development.
On this note, the Kuala Lumpur DAP secretary defended the URA under the auspices of the Housing and Local Government Ministry by stating that the law was created to renovate old housing areas that are dilapidated, unsafe and high-risk to live in.
“Many buildings suffer from structural problems, dilapidated electrical and drainage systems in addition to the lack of modern facilities,” justified Lim who is also a lawyer by training.
“If PAS wants to maintain houses that are almost collapsing and let the people live in dangerous conditions, that is their choice.
“But the Madani government will not let the people continue to be trapped in urban poverty just because they are afraid of change.”
As such, contrary to claims by Tuan Ibrahim that the URA will pave way for “the capitalists to control urban areas”, every affected original homeowner – regardless of race – are given priority to own new units for free or at a discounted price.
“They are not evicted but are instead offered more comfortable homes in the same location. So where does the claim that URA is a ‘subtle method’ to drive Malays and Indians out of the city come from?” berated the DAP lawmaker.
“Or is it possible that PAS is actually afraid that the rakyat will understand the real facts and will no longer be consumed by its propaganda?”
Even funnier, according to Lim, was Tuan Ibrahim’s claims that the existing law which requires 100% consent from the owners before re-development can be carried out “is sufficient”.
“What logic does PAS use? How can they get full consent if there are owners who have died, disappeared or are involved in property disputes?” – Focus Malaysia
