Deputy Mb Pas Rule Rare Earth Will Make Kelantan Prosperous
Kelantan will be a rich state if PAS continues to rule the state and exploit its rich rare earth elements.
Speaking at a ceramah in Pengkalan Chepa, Kelantan last night, Kelantan Deputy Menteri Besar Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said the state government was charting a path to mine rare earth, estimated to be worth RM125 billion.
"The policy for rare earth extraction is with the Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change Ministry. It would be followed up by the state government.
"We will face challenges in managing (this industry). We need expertise and professionals. God willing, after the state elections, we will manage everything properly.
"In the past, the state government depended on timber revenue.
“With rare earth available, trees will no longer be felled. This is what the state government has planned," said Amar, according to Harian Metro.
Getting right candidates
The districts of Jeli, Tanah Merah, and Gua Musang have been identified as areas with large amounts of rare earth - minerals that are crucial for modern electronics.
Amar, who is also a PAS vice-president, said the party has identified several new candidates for the state election, who have the necessary expertise to manage the rare earth industry and maximise profits.
"We will ensure our candidates consist of those who are experts not only in religion but also in other fields.
"They must be vetted by the syura council before being vetted again (by the central committee) to ensure they are truly qualified.
"We will ensure they are bright people who are capable of administering the state. Our target is to win the six state elections and eventually to be leaders in the federal government," he said. - Mkini
