Cuepacs Klia Commotion Violates National Security Protocols

Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) has called for a thorough investigation into the commotion involving a minister at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 yesterday.
This comes after a report that the minister had purportedly barged into the international arrivals hall to defend a Chinese national being barred from entering Malaysia.
Cuepacs president Adnan Mat said if the incident did occur as claimed, it would be a matter involving a violation of national security protocols and interfere with the duties of civil servants.
“As an individual with minister status, it is inappropriate to do such things. All parties, including national leaders, should give full trust to the authorities carrying out their duties.
“Such intrusive behaviour is inappropriate as it clearly violates safety procedures and standard operating procedures (SOPs) that have been set.
“If there is a misunderstanding in the process of detaining the tourist, the minister involved can help through the relevant procedures or obtain clearer information from the airport authorities first,” he said in a statement.
Meddling minister?
Yesterday, BebasNews reported a commotion where a minister had purportedly barged into the international arrivals hall to defend a Chinese national being barred from entering Malaysia.
The Chinese national was allegedly detained at KLIA since June 28 after arriving in the country.
BebasNews, quoting a source, reported that the minister learned about the incident and entered the KLIA arrivals hall without first applying for a pass.
“When stopped, he used his ministerial authority. He got angry with the KLIA auxiliary police and immigration officers and wanted to save the Chinese national who was detained on arrival since Wednesday,” the source was quoted as saying.
Earlier today, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said he has not received any report of the incident but believed that the airport authorities would conduct a detailed investigation. - Mkini
