Crowded Stations Price Hike Fuel Frustration After Mrt Troubles
Commuters unhappy with the price hike from RM30 to RM50 of the unlimited pass for rail and bus services by Prasarana Malaysia saw their frustration further fuelled after the MRT Kajang line faced technical difficulties during rush hour this morning.
As a result, commuters coming from the Kwasa Sentral have to get off at the Phileo Damansara station and take a shuttle bus to the Semantan station before continuing their journey to the Kajang station.
Several commuters took to Twitter to complain about the crowded situation at some of the stations due to technical issues amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
"Zero social distancing at Kwasa Sentral," said a Twitter user.
"No control over crowd for Covid-19 standard operating procedure," another user said.

— fishie (@nafisharahim) January 5, 2022Other users also expressed frustration that the troubles with the Kajang MRT line came just four days after the price for the unlimited public transport travel pass was hiked from RM30 to RM50.
The My30 pass, costing RM30, was introduced in June 2020 by then prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin.
The pass allows unlimited rides on all MRT, LRT, monorail and BRT lines as well as RapidKL and MRT feeders buses in the Klang Valley.
However, the My30 pass was replaced with the My50 pass effective this year which costs RM50.
"The price of My30 went up to My50 but service takes hours. thousands of people are late for work and have to travel in crowded trains," a commuter lamented on Twitter.
"My30 went up to My50 but the MRT service is still...," added another user.
harga My30 naik My50, tapi service perlukan berjam-jam, beribu orang lambat masuk keje, ramai sesak dalam train dengan aircond cenggitu je. Tak Malu Ke? @MRTMalaysia @AskRapidKL

— Adibun (アディブ) 🇲🇾 (@adibfarhan97) January 5, 2022The technical problem started at around 8am, prompting RapidKL to direct commuters to alternatives on Twitter. The issue was resolved at noon.
"MRT Kajang Line Update: Technical issue has been rectified. Service resumes normally. Thank you," RapidKL said on Twitter. - Mkini
