Covid 19 Disinfection Of Public Spaces High Risk Areas To Begin March 30

PETALING JAYA: The Housing and Local Government Ministry will begin to disinfect high-risk areas and public spaces beginning Monday (March 30), says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob
The Defence Minister said the initiative would also be done in People's Housing Project (PPR) units to help curb the spread of Covid-19
Ismail said local councils, which are under the Housing and Local Government Ministry, would be conducting the exercise simultaneously nationwide
"This will also include government offices, with priority being given to public areas and then housing (areas)," he said in a press conference on Saturday (March 28)
Ismail said disinfecting initiatives had been carried out in two areas in the Kluang district, after 61 positive Covid-19 cases were identified in Kampung Datuk Ibrahim Majid and Bandar Baharu Datuk Ibrahim Majid
He also said that 11 disinfecting processes had been done since March 23 by Kuala Lumpur City Hall
Meanwhile, non-governmental organisations (NGO) that would like to send essential supplies to help the needy should do so by sending it to the Welfare Departments of each district, he said
He advised NGOs to send food supplies to the special centres under the Welfare Department in every district
This is to help reduce the movement of people during the movement control order (MCO) period
"Many NGOs have come forward to send help, and the government would like to thank them for their contributions to help the needy in such times
"However, we cannot allow some to just move around freely with the excuse of sending food (to the needy) while others are not allowed to leave their homes
"The Welfare Department's offices in the districts will be used as a place to collect these items before it is distributed to those in need in the areas," he said
Ismail said the Malaysian Volunteer Corps (Rela) and the Malaysian Civil Defence Force would be in charge of distributing the food to those in need
He said this would be a measure to help reduce the movement of people and help curb the spread of Covid-19. - Star
