Covid 19 6 060 Cases
COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 6,060 new Covid-19 cases today, bringing the cumulative infections to 2,460,809.
Nationally, the number of hospital admissions in the last seven days has declined by 12.3 percent compared to the preceding week.
However, hospital admissions in some states are on the rise, particularly in Terengganu (+66.7 percent), Pahang (+41 percent), Kedah (+22.7 percent) and Sabah (+11 percent).
Beginning Oct 9, the Health Ministry will only publish today's breakdown of new cases by states after midnight on its CovidNow portal.
ADSThe breakdown by states for yesterday (Oct 28), where 6,377 new cases were reported, is as follow:
Selangor (1,431)
Sarawak (676)
Sabah (599)
Johor (575)
Kelantan (527)
Penang (384)
Kedah (362)
Pahang (343)
Perak (297)
Terengganu (293)
Kuala Lumpur (262)
Malacca (253)
Negeri Sembilan (249)
Perlis (83)
Putrajaya (31)
Labuan (12)
Nationally, the R-number for Covid-19 was 0.95 as of yesterday, which indicates the outbreak is still in decline.
However, an R-number of above 1.00 has been reported in Negeri Sembilan, and several other states are borderline on crossing that threshold.
The R-number in Negeri Sembilan is estimated to be 1.04 and comes as the state records its highest case numbers since Sept 13. An R-number above 1.00 indicates an outbreak that is growing and accelerating in pace.
However, it should be noted that the outbreak in the state is still relatively small for now with 249 cases, or 23 cases per 10,000 people.
Meanwhile, the R-number of other states and territories include Kuala Lumpur (0.99), Malacca (0.98), and Putrajaya (0.98).
Due to imprecision in estimating the R-number, however, there is a chance the outbreaks in these places may have actually plateaued or are even growing.
Selangor recorded its highest number of cases since Oct 17, but the outbreak appears to still be in decline for now with an R-number of 0.95.
