KUALA LUMPUR: A couple's staycation in Putrajaya turned unpleasant when they discovered bed bugs crawling on their hotel bed in the middle of the night.
The incident was shared in a TikTok video by user @ceklatkek, showing the couple switching on a torchlight after spotting "a small black thing" moving across their pillow at around 12.30am.
"At first, we thought it was an ant.
"But it turned out to be bed bugs. We found not just one, but two, and even eggs," the caption stated.
The video has since gone viral, garnering over 900,000 views.
The poster added that both she and her husband immediately got out of bed, worried that the insects would cling to their clothes or skin.
"We called housekeeping about the bed bugs.
"The housekeeper gave us a new room card, but there was no apology.
"We were too exhausted, so we just accepted it.
"The rest of the night, we barely slept," she said.
The following morning, the couple raised the issue at the hotel's front desk.
However, the response they received - a simple smile and the words "Oh really?" - only added to their frustration.
"Do you know bed bugs cannot be taken lightly?
"That was how you handled customer feedback? Without even saying sorry?" the caption continued.
The clip has sparked widespread reactions from netizens, with many criticising the hotel's alleged lack of professionalism, while others shared their own unpleasant experiences with bed bugs during hotel stays.
