(Facebook pic)KUCHING: The Padawan Municipal Council (PMC) has denied that it rejected the domestic trade and consumer affairs ministry’s request for mobile toilets at a recent event
Its chairman Lo Khere Chiang said it did not receive an official application letter from deputy minister Chong Chieng Jen or his ministry
He said Chong’s claim that the council had turned down a request for mobile toilets was baseless and untrue
At the Sarawak DAP’s 19th annual convention in Miri yesterday, Chong, the state party chairman, had accused Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) of refusing to extend its cooperation during the launch of the “Buy Malaysia Products” campaign here from Oct 18 to 20
“We were trying to rent mobile toilets from the Padawan Municipal Council because the event was held in their jurisdiction but were told none was available,” he said
He criticised GPS’ failure to cooperate in the federal government’s initiatives which were meant to benefit the people
Lo said the council only received an official letter from Mantap Events Sdn Bhd requesting 10 mobile garbage bins for the event
He said the council approved the request
However, he said that even if there was an official request for mobile toilets, the council would still have been unable to provide them as they had been booked for the Spartan Race, the Jalinan Tani carnival and the Borneo Highland Nature Challenge during the period. - FMT
