(Bernama pic)KUALA LUMPUR: Police will summon Rumah Bonda care centre founder Siti Bainun Ahd Razali in their inquiry into the death of Down Syndrome baby Adam Rizqi Abdul Azim in 2020.
Wangsa Maju police chief Ashari Abu Samah said today an inquiry paper had been opened to establish whether there was any criminal element surrounding the death of the 10-month-old baby.
“We are recording statements from several individuals, including Siti Bainun. We were supposed to record her statement over the past few days but we postponed it because she has to attend a court case,” he said.
Certain quarters had urged police to reinvestigate the death of Baby Adam, who had also been under the care of Rumah Bonda.
Subsequently, police had said that the baby died from pneumonia based on the findings of the post-mortem report.
Siti Bainun is currently on trial for allegedly abusing and neglecting a Down Syndrome teenager known as Bella last year.
Meanwhile, Ashari said police would call one Cikgu Fadli, who had claimed on social media that there was no post-mortem done on Baby Adam.
“We are looking for an individual who spread a certain allegation. We want to know where he obtained the information that no post-mortem was done,” he said at the launch of Op Selamat at the city traffic investigation and enforcement department headquarters, which was attended by Kuala Lumpur police chief Azmi Abu Kassim.
“(His allegation) has led the public to believe that the police didn’t do their work,” Ashari said.
Separately, Azmi said police would help track down Rohingya detainees who escaped from an immigration depot in Kedah last week, after the immigration department claimed that some of them were sighted in Selayang. - FMT
