The education ministry called for ‘every element linked’ to Year 4 pupil Iman Zhafran Hafizuddin’s death to be thoroughly probed.PETALING JAYA: Police are still investigating the death of Year 4 pupil Iman Zhafran Hafizuddin, who was found unconscious in a school toilet in Senawang, Seremban, according to the education ministry
The ministry acknowledged a statement made earlier today by Iman’s family over the 10-year-old’s death on Oct 1, and called for “every element linked to the incident” to be thoroughly probed.
“At this moment, the case is still under investigation by the police.
“Stern action must be taken on anyone found guilty. Justice must be served for the family of Iman,” it said in a brief statement.
On Oct 14, Negeri Sembilan police chief Alzafny Ahmad said the investigation into Iman’s death had been completed with the probe paper submitted to the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) for further action.
He said the probe was thorough, with 49 witnesses having given their statements, and also involved Bukit Aman’s forensic investigation and behavioural science units.
The boy was found unconscious in the school toilet on Oct 1 and was taken to a private clinic where he was pronounced dead. A post-mortem determined the cause of death to be compression to the neck, with no other injuries found on the body.
Earlier today, a lawyer acting for Iman’s family demanded an inquest to determine the boy’s cause of death, expressing dissatisfaction with the lack of feedback from the cops, AGC and education ministry more than a month since his death.
The lawyer, Yazid Salim, said that to this day the family have only received information from the pathologist who conducted the post-mortem. - FMT
