Cops Don T Nab The Innocent Says Zuraida After Anwar S Aide Dares Igp
PKR vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin said the police will not arrest a person who has not committed a crime
“It is up to the police to arrest anyone. If the police see that somebody committed a crime, then they will arrest
"If (someone) did not do anything wrong, why should they arrest the person?" she told reporters in Putrajaya this evening
Zuraida was commenting on Perak PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador challengingInspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador to arrest Economic Affairs Minister Azmin Ali over a sex video
Farhash, who is also PKR president Anwar Ibrahim's political secretary, made the statement after being released on police bail yesterday. He was detained on July 16 in connection with the circulation of the video
Earlier, Hamid (below) was quoted by Star Online as stating that the Attorney-General's Chambers would determine if there is a need to arrest Azmin after receiving the investigation papers
Meanwhile, Zuraida attributed Farhash's acerbic comments regarding the sex video to the latter being in the dark over the new developments due to his incarceration for eight days
"I think Farhash did not get information about what was happening outside when he was under remand
"I am actually sympathetic towards him because he was still trapped in his perception (on the issue)
"He was released without getting any updates. So (by now) when he has already been updated, maybe he can give feedback which is saner,” she added
'Give him a chance, he may have been bingung'Commenting on calls for PKR to take disciplinary action against Farhash, the housing and local government minister quipped that he could have been in a “bingung” (dazed) state when making the remarks
“We wait for his response. Maybe he was confused in there, so when he got out (of lock-up) he was not stable
"Perhaps (now) he has become stabilised. So we shall give him a chance," she added
Apart from Farhash, police also detained several individuals, including former Santubong PKR Youth chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Rahman (above), over the sex video, which surfaced last month
Haziq had claimed that the video was of him and Azmin. He alleged that their sexual tryst was recorded without his knowledge in the minister's hotel room in Sabah in May
Azmin, who is also PKR deputy president, claimed the video was aimed at ruining his political career and that it was an inside job
Last week, Hamid said while the video was most likely authentic, the facial recognition process failed to link the minister to the recording
The police chief also revealed the existence of a pact to tarnish Azmin's reputation and that it was spearheaded by the leader of a political party. - Mkini
