Cops Confirm Syed Hussien Has No Criminal Record

PETALING JAYA: Police have confirmed that Kluang Umno Youth chief Syed Hussien Syed Abdullah does not have a criminal record.
In a statement, Kluang police chief Bahrin Noh said there is no record of the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Mahkota state seat by-election having committed any crime.
He said Syed Hussien’s name is not found in the records kept under the Registration of Criminals and Undesirable Persons Act 1969.
Earlier, in response to claims that Syed Hussien had a criminal record, BN chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the Johor Umno man had defended a blind person from being harassed by a group of people in a 2008 assault case but no charges were filed against him.
Bahrin said the probe into the case in question was referred to the deputy public prosecutor’s office, which later ruled it as 
no further action.

No charges were brought against any of the parties involved, he added.
He urged political parties to campaign in a healthy manner and refrain from exploiting issues of race, religion, and royalty or making false statements about one another.

The public is also urged not to speculate or easily believe false statements without first verifying them. Strict action will be taken against anyone who deliberately makes statements that could cause alarm to the public, Bahrin said.
Earlier today, FMT reported Syed Hussien as having denied a claim by Bersatu’s Badrul Hisham Shaharin, also known as Chegubard, that police documents allegedly showed Syed Hussien had been in a fight which resulted in persons getting injured.
Badrul called for Syed Hussien to clarify if he was the individual named in the police documents that the former had obtained. - FMT
