(Facebook pic)PETALING JAYA: Police have taken down a housebreaking gang known as “Geng Amy” with the arrests of four men, including its mastermind “Amy”, in a special operation around Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, on Monday
Harian Metro reported Kota Kinabalu police chief Kasim Muda as saying the success came after they received reports of housebreakings in Luyang and Jalan Penampang, with losses of over RM10,000.
He said investigations led to the arrest of a suspect on Jalan Gaya at 3.40pm on Monday, along with the seizure of a hard disk, a crowbar and clothing.
“The suspect, in his 30s, is a local man. His arrest led to the arrests of the other three members on the same day in separate raids.
“Both cases are being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking,” he said at the Kota Kinabalu police headquarters today.
Kasim said the gang had been active in Kota Kinabalu, Penampang, Papar, Kudat and Sandakan, targeting quiet residential areas and moving in groups of three to four in rented cars.
“All the suspects admitted to their involvement in the crime and have been remanded for further investigation.
“Urine tests found two of them positive for methamphetamine use,” he said.
Kasim said police are now hunting for one more gang member, known only as “Pindil”, and expressed confidence the man would be arrested soon. - FMT
