Cops Are Wrong I Did Make 8 Reports Says Domestic Violence Victim

S.Yoshita showing the bruises on her body which she claims are a result of being beaten by a relative.PETALING JAYA: A woman who claims to be a victim of domestic violence has slammed Kedah police for denying that she had made eight police reports against a relative and for delaying action against him.
S Yoshita described police’s denial that she had made eight reports as “insensitive and shocking,” adding that she had proof of her reports.
She said she was not contacted or updated on the progress made by the Kuala Muda district police. Neither was she asked if she had evidence of violence through the years, such as pictures, unedited tapes or other recordings, she told FMT.
Her first police report was lodged on Feb 19 this year, followed by another two on March 12 and 15 respectively. Subsequently, she claimed, she lodged reports on April 4, 18 and 23, on May 24 and on June 11.
She claimed that the police had medical reports of the assaults from April 4.
“On April 29, I was requested to be present again at the Kuala Muda police station. They took more photographs of my injuries and scars after another statement was recorded. Is the Kedah CPO (chief police officer) denying that I am a domestic violence victim?” she asked.
Earlier today, Kedah police chief Kamarul Zaman Mamat denied a statement by Yoshita, reported in Malaysia Gazette, that she had made eight police reports on violence against her.
In a statement, he said a police report was made on April 4. “The victim came again to IPD Kuala Muda and asked for an interim protection order,” he said, adding that a probe was initiated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for domestic violence.
“Two arrests were made on May 5. Investigations are now over and the case has been referred to the attorney-general’s chambers,” he said.
Meanwhile, Consumer Association of Subang and Shah Alam (Cassa) president Jacob George said Yoshita had sought assistance from the association a week after April 4.
“She made eight police reports against a man and another report was made by her sibling, who lives in Selangor, on April 23,” he said, adding that a total of nine police reports were made.
Yoshita claimed she had been kicked, strangled, slapped, spat upon and verbally abused by the relative and another person in Sungai Petani, Kedah. She finally left for Selangor in April. - FMT
