Cops Probing Sale Of Vaccination Slots Says Kj
Khairy Jamaluddin said vaccine monitoring guidelines will prevent abuse of power in administering vaccines.PETALING JAYA: Police are working with the Covid-19 immunisation task force to probe cases of individuals selling their vaccination appointment slots, vaccine minister Khairy Jamaluddin said today.
In a statement today, he said the task force has been cooperating with police over this issue since June, and police will update the public on developments.
Khairy also said an investigation and integrity task force has been formed comprising task force members, police, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission and Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission.
He added that vaccine monitoring guidelines and a “standby list” have been drawn up and implemented in all vaccination centres to prevent any abuse of power in administering vaccines.
On a recent claim of expired vaccines being given to recipients, he said the matter was not true but caused by an error in entering a recipient’s data.
“The expiry date of the second vaccine dose that was written on the individual’s MySejahtera app was actually the expiry date of the first dose. This fact is supported by documents.
“A mistake in recording the data caused this to happen and the actual expiry date for the vaccine will be updated in the individual’s MySejahtera,” he said.
Khairy also reminded people who had gone for Covid-19 tests and were awaiting their results to avoid going to vaccination centres, whether for vaccination or as a chaperone.
He said he had instructed every vaccination centre to conduct more thorough checks at every entry point to ensure that those with a high-risk status are not allowed in. - FMT
