Cara Cara Menjadi Negara Miskin
I received this yesterday from a friend.
Investors are already leaving. Even local ones.
I have a friend who was producing for C--gate P---olive, who required them to house general workers within the factory area. He couldnt wait for the 1 year approval process and decided to build the flats to avoid losing the contract. Shortly after that they were informed it was illegal and had them demolished as our land laws cannot permit residences within the industrial area. So he tried housing workers in residential areas and ended with massive complaints and losses in high rents and logistics. Even Bomba required yearly "facilitation".
He has since closed his factory and relocated to Vietnam, as with several other factories.
The government doesnt seem to know the biggest impediment to FDI is the lack of transparency in our approval process and the lengthy approvals.
Its faster to build a factory or a hotel than to get the required approvals.
The local authorities are killing the economy.
I have a Taiwanese friend who built a factory in Kulim / Sg Petani area in Kedah. After 3 years he closed the factory and shifted to Hanoi, Vietnam.
Less hassles and easier to get labour.
My Comments:
I have a very short comment. If you need anything at all from any gomen department, especially local gomen, you can really get screwed. It depends very much on who YOU are.
