Call To Boycott Sue Rhb Bank For Illegal Dismissal Of Siti Nurziswanis Erupts Among Opposition Faction

OPPOSITION-slant netizens have called for the boycott of RHB Bank in retaliation to the deemed sacking of staff Siti Nurziswanis Mohd Zain who had admitted to having shared a photoshopped image of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim donning an Israeli flag saree on her Facebook Story.
Such furore was fanned by pro-opposition blogger Ratu Naga (real name Syarul Ema Rena Abu Samah) who posed the question “what would you to RHB which has started to apple-polish Madanon (slang for PMX’s Madani government) by sacking our dearest sister?”
Like it or not Ratu Naga’s Facebook post has been a hit judging from the 6.6K likes, 3.3K comments and 333 shares that it has garnered at the time of writing.

The boycott to demonstrate profound displeasure to RHB Bank for having displayed bootlicking tendencies towards the Madani government is by means of closing one’s bank account/s and transferring of savings to Muslim-friendly financial institutions such as Bank Islam and Bank Muamalat.

Those who are legally-literate even called to verify the matter against the Employment Act 1955 if “the dismissal is illegal” given the action is prompted by political pressure and has nothing to do with the said staff’s misconduct.
Towards this end, taking legal action against the bank could be viewed as a valid option after having escalate the matter to the Industrial Relations Department.

This came about after one commenter disputed RHB Bank’s harsh action on Siti Nurziswanis by terminating her employment with immediate effect on Oct 31 on grounds that she has breached its “strict zero-tolerance policy towards any behaviour that contravenes our Code of Ethics and Conduct”.
On this note, he urged the National Union of Bank Employees (NUBE) to look into the case which he deemed to be unprecedented as it encroaches the ex-staff’s rights as an employee.

“To me, she used her own account. She didn’t use the company’s account she works for. On what basis then was she fired?” defended the commenter.
“Only because she condemned PMX? The bank has no rights over her personal affairs.”
However, some rational-minded commenters highlighted that Siti Nurziswanis’ original FB profile image which has since been taken down did feature a RHB Bank branch, hence she has inadvertently dragged her employer into her personal affairs despite having profusely apologised to PMX for her insensitivity.

Another denied that it has to do with a person’s political view per se but because “there’s an intention to undermine someone’s performance which is deemed criminal in nature”.
“RHB has its own legal advisers to consult before firing the staff … The law is unbothered about politics. It no longer considers Anwar as PMX but sees him as an individual who is under attack.”

Interestingly, RHB Bank must have found itself in a Catch-22 situation given its pro-Madani clientele, too, have threatened to withdraw their wealth from the financial institution unless a deterrent action is meted out against Siti Nurziswanis for her despisable social media sharing.
“My entire family has been loyal depositors with @RHBGroup for generations,” reacted Edge (@Johann_Eva8) on X.
“Let me be clear: we’ll immediately withdraw all of our funds and sever all ties with your institution if appropriate disciplinary action is not taken against her. Her conduct is completely unacceptable.”
