He has little or no power through much of Syria. This 'pact' does not mention the Druze - who will likely be getting their own autonomous region right beside the Israeli border. The Druze want to be part of Israel. The Druze are not Muslim at all.
The pact also does not mention the Kurdish people. The Kurds too will have their own areas - and not under the Syrian "president". The Kurds are Sunni Muslim but they are not Arabs.
It looks like Syria is being broken up into three parts - according to race and religion. Ahmad Sharaa gets to play-play as president in Damascus.
If they can stop fighting with each other it would be good. But they have not stopped fighting among themselves for the past 1,000 years.
