THERE is a huge date approaching for Sabahans and it is no other than Saturday Nov 29, the Sabah state election.
Some political analysts point out how crucial the election here will be as it will set the tone for the general election to come. Also, it is somewhat like a test bed for Team Madani to find out if their rule has garnered the approval of the people.
Every competing party will undoubtedly pull up all the stops to increase the odds of their candidate winning. But apparently, one party is taking it to the next level with its very unique, and techie looking light fan which is being distributed to the voters.

With the press of a button, the fan will twirl, and the blades light up with the words Barisan National on it. The gift has since drawn admiration and ridicule from supporters and critics alike.

“Bro not gonna lie, that’s dope,” said @donnolahboi while another netizen commented that he would vote for BN too if he received such a gift.

Also, @sembelihZionist said the Sabahans would be so enraptured by the light fan that BN would win big. Strangely, we felt a sliver of sarcasm in @sembelihZionist ‘s words.
However, @XEQtor pointed out that the battery for the fan will last only until election day.

“Remember Sabahans, when they give the fan, just take it, but vote for someone else,” said @aidil_axlan. Also, @ammxr_twt was unimpressed, stating that some wedding feasts provide better fans as door gifts.
Others pointed out how the suppliers of these fans will profit from their association with BN. Away from all the jokes and sarcasms, these techie fans are also a reminder of how heated the fight will be on election day.
Based on the Nov 15 nomination for the 17th Sabah State Election, a total of 596 candidates will be vying for the 73 State Legislative Assembly seats, compared to 447 candidates during the 16th state polls in 2020.
