PN chairman Muhyiddin Yassin, who launched the manifesto, said the cash aid scheme would ease the rising cost of living, particularly in rural areas. “This is PN’s firm commitment to ensure that the people of Sabah are not left behind economically,” he said.
PN also pledged RM300 million over five years for a Sabah Education Fund to help rural children and B40 families with access to education.
“Through the fund, PN promises transport to hostels for interior students, support for digital learning devices and equipment, as well as free tuition for students from needy families.
“Students with hearing or vision problems will also receive free screenings, as well as glasses or hearing aids,” he said.
To improve basic skills, PN will introduce a scheme to ensure Year 1 students master the skills of reading, writing, and arithmetic, alongside stationery aid, while SPM, STPM, and STAM candidates will receive RM250 under a proposed Bantuan Tenang Periksa Sabah scheme.
On healthcare, PN unveiled the Sabah Prihatin programme which includes a mobile screening service, consultations, and basic treatment for people with chronic illnesses.
For students studying outside Sabah, PN pledged RM1,000 in annual flight subsidies for students studying in Peninsular Malaysia, Sarawak, and Labuan to reduce the cost of travelling home.
To assist youth, PN will allocate RM2.5 million a year in aid for 5,000 young people in the motorcycle delivery sector. “The scheme includes motorcycle maintenance, financing and insurance coverage to ensure their safety and income continuity,” he said.
Muhyiddin said the manifesto was shaped by the voices of the people and grassroots aspirations for a more efficient, fair, and responsive state government. “This is not an empty manifesto. It is a responsible commitment PN is ready to implement once given the mandate,” he said.
He added that the 159 proposals reflect PN’s determination to drive structural change in Sabah while ensuring immediate benefits through direct aid, better education and healthcare access, and expanded economic opportunities. - FMT
