Cybersecurity Malaysia Praises BlackBerry's Contributions to the Nation’s Digital Security Future

BlackBerry Limited today announced it has been recognized with the prestigious award for Cyber Security (Service) Innovation at Malaysia’s Cyber Security Awards 2024, announced during CyberDSA on 6 August, an industry event in Kuala Lumpur endorsed by Cybersecurity Malaysia, an agency under the Ministry of Digital Malaysia. Presented by Dato' Ts. Dr. Haji Amirudin Bin Abdul Wahab FASc, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Cybersecurity Malaysia, the accolade recognized BlackBerry’s commitment to building capacity, boosting cyber-resilience and supporting Malaysia’s journey to becoming a secure digital nation.

Based on three areas of evaluation – product innovation, education and service – BlackBerry’s award win is attributed to the successful establishment of a new Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (CCoE) in Cyberjaya to train and upskill cyber-workforces, and the company’s state-of-the-art cybersecurity solutions and services portfolio which addresses a wide range of security requirements for governments and businesses – and trusted by organizations globally for protecting people, critical infrastructure, information, conversations, messaging, apps and devices used by roaming workforces.

In commending the organizations for leading the way in advancing Malaysia’s cybersecurity landscape, YB Tuan Gobind Singh Deo, Minister of Digital said, “Digital trust enhances security and resilience through collaborative efforts and shared threat intelligence. By combating misinformation, protecting privacy and promoting social cohesion, digital trust contributes to a safer and more harmonious society.”

BlackBerry has demonstrated significant effort and commitment to strengthening Malaysia's cybersecurity landscape since it first announced its software and services agreement with the Government in November 2023. After opening of the Malaysia CCoE on March 26th, BlackBerry has announced several internationally accredited training partners, offered three scholarships to women cyber leaders, and launched the BlackBerry Cybersecurity Curriculum, a global first for the company, to equip local private and public businesses as well as government agencies with training and upskilling programs, and capacity building efforts. In just five months, over 700 people have been trained at the facility, and hundreds of students and cyber-professionals have attended networking and knowledge-sharing events, which is only set to grow.
