Asyraf Umno Will Not Compromise On Challenges To Nation S Stability

Umno will never compromise on any attempts to question or challenge the fundamental stability of the country, including the position of Islam and the Malay-bumiputera identity, said secretary-general Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.
Asyraf also called on all Malaysians to uphold the principles of Rukun Negara as the foundation of nation-building.
“Umno urges all Malaysians to continue defending the principles of Rukun Negara and the supremacy of the Federal Constitution as the essential foundation that has shaped the nation since independence.
“The centrality of Islam and the Malay-bumiputera identity in Malaysia’s pluralistic society must continue to be preserved,” he said in a statement after the Umno supreme council meeting in Kuala Lumpur today.
Asyraf stressed that Umno takes serious concern of current developments in 3R (race, religion, royalty) issues, which have caused unease among Malaysia’s multiracial and multi-religious society.
He is believed to be referring to the recent controversy where three Era FM DJs mocked the Thaipusam kavadi ritual.
The three presenters had since apologised, and the MCMC had issued an RM250,000 fine to Maestra Broadcasting Sdn Bhd, the radio station operator that holds Era FM’s broadcasting licence.
The incident sparked counter reactions, including from a Facebook user named “Vijayan Savarinathan”, who allegedly insulted Islam in a video uploaded on social media. The individual later apologised.
It is understood that the man is overseas.
By-election preparations
On another issue, Asyraf stated that Umno would mobilise its machinery to help the party defend the Ayer Kuning state seat in Perak in the upcoming by-election.
Additionally, the supreme council has set the dates for the 2025 Umno branch meetings from April 7 to May 25, while divisional meetings will be held from June 9 to July 27.
The Umno general assembly is scheduled from Aug 20 to 23. - Mkini
