Any Legal Action Against Pac Is Challenging Parliament Constitution

PAC chairman Wong Kah Woh said the committee viewed the act by Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan (YWP) as uncalled for and described it as an attempt to challenge the Parliamentary institution.
YWP reportedly tried to seek legal action against the PAC findings on report of sale of land plots owned by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) which was presented in Parliament on Wednesday.
"All accusations on the report are baseless and PAC carried out investigations without prejudice against any parties.
"Any accusation or threats to the PAC or its members involving issues that are currently being investigated, or issues raised in the report that was recently presented, is clearly an attempt to interfere with the Parliament jurisdiction as the Legislative branch under the Federal Constitution," he told A press conference at the Parliament building, here, today.
Yesterday, a local news portal reported that the YWP is mulling legal action against the PAC chairman over his statements.
YWP chief legal officer Mohd Fadzil Ab Hamid said the legal action was on the allegation that YWP was involved in dubious transactions involving 97 land plots owned by DBKL.
Mohd Fadzil said the claims by Wong (DAP-Ipoh Timur) from the PAC report was not true and that YWP had bought two plots of land from DBKL at the current market price, without any reduction.
He said the land plots were purchased to generate income to cover welfare programmes for Kuala Lumpur residents who are in the low-income category. - NST
