Anwar Says Mosques Should Promote Unity Not Hatred Calls For Respect Among Communities

He said such actions should be rejected as it is becoming increasingly widespread and excessive.
“This should not be allowed to continue. Islam teaches us to respect relationships between Muslims and non-Muslims,” he said in his speech when officiating the new Masjid Jamek Prai.
He said for a country to be developed, peace among its people must be maintained.
“There must be good relationship not only among Muslims, but also between Muslims and non-Muslims,” he said.
He said even if there are differences in opinions, it can be overcome through proper dialogue instead of through insults.
Later, Anwar announced a RM100,000 contribution towards the mosque.
He said the contribution can be used for the development of a centre for religious activities for the well-being of children in the local community.
He also urged Muslims to continue to develop mosques in order to empower the community through various scholarly activities.
“Mosques can be centres of knowledge, particularly in the Quran, and community development,” he said.
He said the revitalising of mosques is not only about physical maintenance but also about bringing the mosque to life with knowledge-sharing, study classes, and programs that encourage unity and human development.
“It is good to send your children for tahfiz programmes but after that, let them continue to TVET programmes too,” he said.
He said knowledge is important and tahfiz graduates can go on to universities and even become pilots.
