Anwar Disagrees With Kj S Forceful Approach Towards Anti Vaxxers

Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim said he does not agree with Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin’s “forceful” approach towards Malaysians who refuse to receive the Covid-19 vaccination.
Instead, the Port Dickson MP said the government should be raising awareness among those who refused vaccination about the need to be inoculated against the disease.
“I do not support the anti-vaccination group but sometimes their arguments are strong too.
“So we answer with our point, they provide a scientific paper (to support their claims) and then we bring a stronger scientific argument to break their argument.
“Don’t resort to punishment and threats. This is an arrogant method and we cannot accept this,” Anwar said to reporters at the officiating ceremony of Wisma SP Care in Hulu Selangor today.
He said this when asked to comment on Khairy’s statement yesterday that the government may make life “difficult” for those who do not get inoculated against Covid-19.

“Resolve those who want the vaccine first. The small number (who do not want the vaccine), we must approach them and try to explain to them.
“But according to the law, they are not in the wrong. So how can we put pressure on them when legally, they are not wrong, that’s number one.
“Secondly, when I say we should approach them, we should implore, coax them when explaining to them and answer their queries,” Anwar said.
Earlier, he had officiated a ceremony at Wisma SP Care in Antara Gapi as a sign of appreciation to the more than 150 staff who had worked at the 12 SP Care clinics throughout the pandemic.
Also present was Hulu Selangor MP June Leow Hsiad Hui.
SP Care founder Dr Sathia Prakash Nadarajan said they have so far provided food baskets to more than 3,000 families in the Hulu Selangor area.
Aside from that, they have also launched a blood donation drive as preliminary preparation for a potential lack of blood at national blood centres during the pandemic. - Mkini
