Anti Trump Demo By Pro Palestine Group Underway Tomorrow At Us Embassy Over Gaza Vision

SOME cheeky detractors are mocking civil society group Sekretariat Solidariti Palestin (SSP) to elevate its protest against US president Donald Trump’s proposal for the forced displacement of the entire Gaza population after tomorrow’s Friday prayers (Feb 14) to a “live demonstration at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue”.
This comes about as the fragile Palestine-Israel peace process via the Jan 15 ceasefire deal has come under jeopardy with a possible re-eruption of war in Gaza if Hamas fails to meet a Saturday (Jan 15) deadline to free more Israeli hostages.
Concern that the truce will collapse amid high hopes of the Gaza Strip reconstruction which could cost as much as US$1 tril is growing as fury mounts in the Arab world over Trump’s plan for the US to take over Gaza, re-settle its Palestinian inhabitants and build an international beach resort.
As per a Reuters’ report, Hamas has agreed under the ceasefire deal to free three more hostages on Saturday but said this week that it was suspending the handover over following Israeli violations of the terms.
This prompted Trump to respond by stating that all hostages must be freed by noon on Saturday or he would “let hell break out”.
Back home, Free Malaysia Today (FMT) reported that a SSP-backed demonstration will take place in front of the US Embassy tomorrow to protest against what it deemed as a blatant act of genocide Trump’s proposal for the occupation of Gaza and the forced removal of the Palestinian population.
Protesters in the joint SSP-Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisations will gather at 2.30pm outside Menara Tabung Haji in Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur before marching to the US embassy nearby, according to SSP spokesman Tian Chua.
A memorandum would also be submitted to the US embassy by the Malaysian Women’s Coalition for Al Quds and Palestine between 10am and 11am tomorrow.

Sekretariat Solidariti Palestin (SSP) spokesman Tian ChuaIn Chua’s contention, the proposal for the forced displacement of the entire Gaza population is a grave breach of international humanitarian law and constitutes a clear act of genocide.
The former Batu MP further urged civil societies to stand up against Trump’s “sinister plan” and called on Malaysians from all walks of life and backgrounds to show solidarity with the people of Palestine.
“The Palestinians like all people have the inherent right to self-determination, dignity and the freedom to live in their homeland without fear of expulsion or occupation,” asserted the ex-PKR vice-president.
Recall that on Jan 20, SSP had hailed the ceasefire declaration between the Palestinian Liberation Movement (PLM) and Israel although it acknowledged that the situation “is still unclear and may be at risk of sabotage” but nevertheless the cessation of hostilities is still a positive development. – Focus Malaysia
