Another Joins The Fray To Unseat Syed Saddiq As Bersatu Youth Chief
Bersatu Youth exco Mohd Muzzammil Ismail today announced that he will be joining the race to challenge incumbent Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman as Bersatu youth chief in the party's upcoming party elections
As soon as he announced his candidacy at an event in Shah Alam today, Muzzammil (above, seated second from right) criticised Syed Saddiq's leadership
Muzzammil claimed he was offering himself as Bersatu Youth chief due to Syed Saddiq's alleged failure, citing poor youth support, particularly in recent by-elections
"We see that the current leadership has failed to lead Bersatu Youth and attract the support of youths
"Our struggle will be to restore Bersatu Youth's good name, particularly in light of various cases and issues which I will not mention here," he told journalists this afternoon
Muzammil also announced that he was partnering with fellow Bersatu Youth exco Abu Hafiz Salleh Hudin who will be vying for the position of Bersatu Youth vice- chief
He claimed that there would be a wave of rejection against Syed Saddiq
Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul RahmanAsked about speculation that Umno and Bersatu planned to form a new ruling coalition dubbed "Pakatan Nasional", Muzzammil said Bersatu needed to put in more effort to present itself as a party that championed Malays and Islam
However, he said the priority now was on strengthening the party and its youth wing
Muzammil is the second person to announce a challenge against Syed Saddiq, who is the founding leader of Bersatu Youth
On Jan 26, Bernama reported that film director and businessperson Razalif Mohd Zain's planned to contest for the Bersatu Youth chief position
The 30-year-old, who is the Seaview Park Bersatu branch chief in George Town, Penang, said he hoped to bring a renewal to Bersatu Youth, who call themselves "Armada Bersatu"
"One of the reasons I want to contest as the Bersatu Youth chief is to give meaning to the practice of democracy
"I would also like to champion the future of Bersatu Youth," he was quoted as saying when submitting his candidacy form in George Town. - Mkini
