Zuhan Zaid said Pakatan Harapan (PH) needs to be in the state government, even though Barisan Nasional (BN) dominates the 56-seat Johor legislative assembly.
“Johor Amanah demands for a ‘signal’ to be sent for a unity government to be formed immediately in Johor,” he said while debating the party president’s speech at Amanah’s national convention here today.
In the Johor state elections in March last year, BN won more than a two-thirds majority with 40 seats. PH won 12 state seats, with DAP winning 10 and both PKR and Amanah won one each.
Zuhan also said the Puteri Wangsa state seat won by Muda in 2022 should be “returned” to Amanah in the next polls.
In September, Muda’s Puteri Wangsa assemblyman Amira Aisya Abd Aziz rejected calls for her to step down following the youth party’s exit from the unity government.
The party’s acting president said she rejected the demand made by Johor Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Aminolhuda Hassan, who also urged her to join Amanah.
“We have to remember the principles of competition. No matter what happens to the seat, it does not belong to a party.
“The Puteri Wangsa and Muar seats belong to the people, not Muda,” she said in the Johor state assembly.
Previously, then Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman announced the party’s exit from the unity government after expressing dissatisfaction with the abrupt halt of deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s corruption trial. - FMT
