Alexander Isak Stuns Newcastle With Bold Contract Negotiation Demands

Alexander Isak has reportedly made a significant salary request of £300,000 per week in order to extend his contract with Newcastle United, a figure that would position him among the highest earners in the Premier League.
This past summer, Isak’s future has been a focal point of transfer speculation, with Liverpool allegedly eyeing a bid, despite Newcastle’s firm stance that the player is not available for transfer.
Additionally, Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal is said to be considering a proposal for the talented 25-year-old striker.
Newcastle, however, remains resolute in their intention to retain Isak, whom they regard as crucial to their ambitions for the upcoming season. According to talkSPORT, Isak’s hefty weekly wage demand would not only elevate him to Newcastle’s top earning player but would also reflect a staggering 250% increase from the contract he signed in August 2022.
This salary would place Isak among the joint sixth highest-paid players in the league, on par with notable names such as Jack Grealish, Bernardo Silva, Bruno Fernandes, and Marcus Rashford. Only players like Raheem Sterling, Virgil van Dijk, Casemiro, Mohamed Salah, and Erling Haaland currently earn higher salaries.
According to TBR Football, Newcastle is aiming to negotiate Isak’s contract closer to the £200,000 mark.
Financially, Newcastle possesses the means to accommodate this request, given their ownership by the $941 billion valued Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia. However, they face challenges in offering packages that align with competitive standards.
This summer, the club has struggled to secure several targets, with only Anthony Elanga as their sole confirmed signing thus far, following the loss of Hugo Ekitike who has joined Liverpool.
Notably, Isak did not participate in Newcastle’s opening pre-season match against Celtic, as manager Eddie Howe opted to send him home amidst ongoing transfer speculation.
Howe clarified, “That was my decision. He travelled with us to Glasgow, but I felt it was best to send him back due to the surrounding rumors.” He expressed confidence that Isak will remain with Newcastle by the end of the transfer window.
Regarding Isak’s future, Howe emphasized the club’s desire to retain him, stating, “We are desperate to keep him.” He remarked on the difficulty of finding and developing top talents, underscoring Isak’s importance to the team.
Isak’s representatives have indicated through Saudi outlet Arriyadiyah that a decisive choice about his future, whether staying with Newcastle or exploring options elsewhere, could be imminent.
