Adam Adli Muda Should Declare Position In Govt Amid Solo Run

In light of Muda’s decision to run solo in the upcoming state elections, PKR Youth chief Adam Adli Abdul Halim has urged the party to clarify where it stands within the government.
The deputy youth and sports minister said Muda has to declare today whether it still considers itself part of the ruling coalition or if it no longer supports it.
“If Muda no longer supports the coalition government, they can cross over to the opposition bloc.
“No one is stopping them and it’s not wrong from a legal standpoint,” he said on a Twitter post this afternoon.
Furthermore, Adam (above, left) inquired about the specific target of Muda’s challenge in the state polls, given that Pakatan Harapan currently holds the incumbent position in Negeri Sembilan, Penang, and Selangor.
He noted that participating in the state elections meant challenging the incumbent government to replace them and asked if this was Muda’s main objective.
“No one enters an election just for fun; everyone wants to win and form a government. That’s the essence of electoral politics.
“If Muda only participates in the state elections because they failed to obtain the ‘space for discussion’, then I consider Muda as an unsuitable ally.
“It’s all about your interest, not the people’s,” Adam said.
On June 26, Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, in announcing the party’s solo run, said that it would not be cowed by fear-mongering that doing so would only result in “splitting votes”.
The Muar MP emphasised that the party intends to contest the state elections using its strengths and mandates.
According to Muda secretary-general Amir Hariri Abd Hadi, the party is merely offering voters an alternative to “two giants” (existing blocs Harapan/BN and Perikatan Nasional), and not acting under anyone else’s orders.
Amir said the country also needs a more effective opposition, with PN being focused mainly on race, religion, and royalty-based sentiments, rather than arguing on policy-based issues.
