957 Covid 19 Cases 972 Recoveries

PETALING JAYA: The health ministry has reported 957 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours. All are domestic transmissions.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 972 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 22,220, or 68.4% of the total infections.
In a tweet, Noor Hisham said the new cases bring the total number of cases in the country to 32,505.
A total of 10,036 people are still being treated. 97 of them are in the intensive care unit, with 27 requiring respiratory assistance.
No new deaths have been recorded, with the toll remaining at 249, or 0.8% of the total number of cases.
Noor Hisham said Sabah had recorded the highest number of cases again with 644, or 67.3% of the total cases. The majority of cases (401) were close contacts, 97 were from existing clusters, and 146 were from other Covid-19 screenings.
Meanwhile there were 230 cases or 24% of the total cases reported in the Klang Valley.
Selangor reported 225 cases, of which 156 were from existing clusters.
Noor Hisham said Sabah, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya  contributed to almost all of the cases, with a cumulative number of 874 cases (91.3%).
He said this followed new case detections in the states following public health activities on the field, including close-contact tracing and screenings in areas under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO), such as Plaza Hentian, Kajang.
Noor Hisham also said there were 80 cases from clusters involving prisons and temporary detention centres.
He said the temporary detention centre in Tawau reported 54 new cases, the Seberang Perai prison cluster 14, and the Kepayan prison cluster six. The Benteng LD cluster and the Rumah Merah cluster both had three new cases each.
Selangor recorded the second highest number of cases again today, with the majority (172) from clusters. Meanwhile, 39 cases were close contacts and 14 from other types of Covid-19 screenings.
Penang reported 23 cases, Labuan 18 and Terengganu 15. Most of these cases were from existing clusters.
Sarawak reported 11 cases in the last 24 hours and Negeri Sembilan eight new cases.
Perak, Kuala Lumpur, Kedah, Melaka, Johor and Putrajaya reported fewer than five cases each. - FMT
