60 Pkr Youth Members Claim National Congress Snub

(FMT) – About 60 PKR Youth members from seven divisions in four states claim they have been denied the right to attend the party’s national congress this weekend.
Kelana Jaya PKR Youth vice-chief Muhammad Dzahiruddin Abdul Nasir said the party’s website has a list of representatives eligible to attend the national congress. Despite running annual general meetings and choosing representatives to the assembly in Melaka as required, he added, the names of the 60 members were not on the list.
“Unfortunately, our names were not on the list when we last checked this morning,” he told FMT today.
“None of the members from these seven divisions are on the list. We are still checking if other divisions are not listed as well.”
The leaders of the seven divisions – Bentong, Jeli, Kelana Jaya, Kuala Krai, Kuala Selangor, Rantau Panjang and Sepang – have reported the issue to the Registrar of Societies, urging the body to take action against PKR Youth leaders who are found to have denied members their right to be represented in Melaka.
Dzahiruddin said he was made aware of the matter after receiving complaints from the various divisions whose members’ names were not on the list.
The PKR Youth congress sparked controversy when it was announced that PKR adviser Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail would replace deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali in officiating the congress.
Two camps aligned with PKR president Anwar Ibrahim and Azmin have been trading barbs over the national congress. It is believed that a separate gathering in Kuala Lumpur will be held at the same time as the national congress in Melaka.
