Zahid Claims Alternative Efforts To Bring In Covid 19 Vaccines Being Stalled
Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has claimed alternative efforts to bring in approved Covid-19 vaccines are being stalled.
This was amid what he claimed was the slow progress of the vaccination exercise.
"There are talks that other quarters are trying to bring in vaccines approved by the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) but those efforts had to be suspended due to delays by the relevant ministry.
"For example, those by private companies and foundations from Selangor and Sarawak," he said on Facebook today.
The Bagan Datuk MP also sarcastically suggested that waiting for the federal government would take "decades" long.
"Two months have passed and the vaccination process is slow. Where did it go wrong?
"To date, 451,237 individuals have completed the two-dose vaccination regime and that too only involved selected persons.
"The rakyat? Please wait," he added.
The vaccination exercise is being overseen by the Special Committee on Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply.
The committee is co-chaired by Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin and Health Minister Dr Adham Baba, who are both from Zahid's party.

Khairy had reportedly denied that the Covid-19 vaccination exercise was "slow" and said people needed to follow the schedule.
Zahid noted that the government had heavily publicised the arrival of the first batch of the Covid-19 vaccine when they first reached our shores in February.
"There was much hope among the people that the jabs will be administered immediately. The movement control order can come to an end and there won't be thousands of new cases every day."
However, he said things have not turned out according to expectations. - Mkini
