Prosecution to object Muhyiddin’s request for passport release
OCT: Former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s reason for permanently releasing his passport is frivolous and an abuse of court.
The reason given is that every year he takes his family to the UK for a month-long holiday as a tradition.
Wow, he is such a wonderful caring father. However, tradition must change under different circumstances. Muhyiddin’s lifestyle must change and adapt to new circumstances.
Muhyiddin thinks that if he goes to Sungai Buloh, he will ask the prison department for the same privilege as it has been his tradition. This is the biggest joke of the century.
He doesn't have any illness that cannot be treated locally and needs overseas specialist treatment. There are many local specialist hospitals that offer stress treatment.
A stress test is a simple heart condition test that doesn't need specialist attention. It can be done at any hospital. There are no good reasons for Muhyiddin to go overseas.
He might as well stay in Malaysia and spend more time with lawyers to prepare for his court cases.
However, if Muhyiddin said he is going overseas to bring back his son-in-law, this can be considered a valid and good reason. Will he be willing to do it?
Vijay47: Congratulations prosecution for objecting to Muhyiddin’s application. It is heartening indeed to note that there is a tide in the affairs of men when you are capable of protesting pleas from the accused.
In the past, you had displayed a much more generous attitude. But do you really need two weeks to respond to a ridiculous “I want to go for a family vacation” release of passport? My nine-year-old grandson could have replied in 30 minutes with both his hands tied behind his back.
This flippant application smacks of making a mockery of the judiciary. Muhyiddin has the cheek to justify his request on the grounds of his family’s “tradition of going away on a vacation”.
I hope the court comes out with an appropriate reprimand.
Muhyiddin, you have applied for a permanent release of your passport. Why permanent? After your Christmas visit to Big Ben, are you planning on a family vacation to the Andes followed by a trip to Antarctica?
Business First: Medical treatment can be done in Malaysia. Muhyiddin is part of the system that made Malaysian health what it is today. If it is good enough for locals, then it is good enough for him.
In any case, is he admitting that the stepchild Singapore kicked out from Malaysia is so much more advanced than Malaysia in terms of medical treatment?
Next, considering his son-in-law has allegedly absconded and is abroad, I think it would not be prudent to allow him to travel out of the jurisdiction.
Spending time with family? Well, Muhyiddin can go to Langkawi, Kedah? Kota Bahru, Kelantan? Alor Setar, Kedah? Kangar, Perlis? Terengganu?
If you want a better place, then try Desaru Beach Resort in Johor, Penang, Malacca, Tioman Island Resort, Pahang. If you want to travel even further, then I suggest Sabah or Sarawak.
World Citizen: Just learn how to holiday in Malaysia. You could be spending millions of ringgits on your holiday and huge amounts of taxpayers' money for your medical expenses.
Think about so many millions of Malaysians who cannot even eat proper meals every day because of greedy and corrupt politicians. You shamelessly claim you take your family for a holiday overseas every year and you are stressed.
Have you ever thought about the poor farmers in Tambun, Perak, fighting to save their farms and livelihoods?
Weird Weirder: Since we do not practise favouritism for politicians, if we allow him to have the passport, wouldn't this open the floodgates for everyone charged to be free to have their passport just because he wants to go on holiday?
How do we judge who deserves to go and who doesn't? Does that mean Muhyiddin acknowledges that he deserves VIP treatment compared to a commoner?
Having medical treatment is one thing but having a passport to go on holiday seems like a slap to our legal system.

He must address his corruption charges first before leaving the country. The very reason his passport was taken away from him was for security purposes.
Blue Mountains: The court may allow him to go for medical treatment with strict conditions. However, a stress test on a treadmill can be obtained locally like at the Institute Jantung Negara (National Heart Institute).
Asking the court to allow him to go on holiday is unheard of.
Nevertheless, permissions have been granted for some to visit their daughters who gave birth in a foreign land. - Mkini
