Yoursay Don T Forget It Was Dr M Who Destroyed The Unity Govt
YOURSAY | 'There was already a unity government. It was called Harapan…'
Dr M met Ku Li and others on 'unity government' proposal - source
IndigoTrout2522: Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad is again trying to stir up the pot. The country has had enough of him.
Pakatan Harapan must stand firm and be united and not be used again. Mahathir only has four MPs and Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah has limited influence in Umno.
The only way Mahathir can get back is to try to break up Harapan and leave DAP and PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim and his supporters out of the coalition.
Umno and PAS have already announced their stand – Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and Bersatu are disposable. That leaves Maufakat Nasional versus Harapan. Whoever can get the support of GPS and Warisan from East Malaysia will win GE15.
It is critical for PKR, DAP and Amanah to try to bring Warisan and GPS to their fold. There should be no more bickering within the coalition. The coalition of Harapan plus Warisan and GPS is the best combination for political stability in this country.
Bluemountains: Mahathir (Pejuang) met three persons, all of them from single-race parties. One from Umno, one from Bersatu and one from Amanah. None from multiracial parties like Warisan, DAP and PKR.
They could be talking about a "Malay Unity" government instead.
FairMalaysian: Hasn't Mahathir done enough damage to this country? Only fools will believe him on what he says. Anyone or any party that supports him will certainly lose votes. He is the main cause for the downfall of Harapan.
Odysseus: Yes, enough of the old man and his unity government when he is all about the Malay Dignity Congress, harbouring fugitives and making enemies with neighbouring countries.
Haven't we had enough of him and the politics of the 80s? Please retire gracefully, with whatever goodwill the public have for you.
ZainiHussin: Seeking advice from Mahathir would be the last thing any sane person will do. He is a leader who doesn't keep his promise to the rakyat.
He makes unilateral decisions, he is anti-reform, he doesn't treat all races equally and he constantly plays up race and religious issues for his personal benefit. He cannot be trusted and should not be consulted anymore.
Sarawakian: Right now, do we have any better alternative to Mahathir’s unity government proposal? One that can have enough numbers to topple Perikatan Nasional (PN)?
Can it be worse than a PN government dominated by PAS, Muhyiddin, Azmin Ali and Hamzah Zainudin, with Umno pulling the strings? I am ready to accept anyone from Tengku Razaleigh to Anwar, and even Mahathir as PM, instead of this bunch.
Ferdtan: If Amanah wants to be like PAS, to be government at all cost and not sticking with their known allies that had supported them at their time of crisis when they were 'sacked' from their mother party, PAS, we would know what to do in the next election.
It seems that PAS' DNA, their unreliability of sticking with friends, just because they want to be in government has not left them.
At least now DAP's Lim Guan Eng has learnt his lesson; knowing that many of his supporters would have whacked him if he still believes in Mahathir's sincerity.
Amanah may have immediate gain; but in long run, strategically, they can forget about non-Malay support.
You need both, Malays and non-Malays, to be relevant; unlike your ex-parent PAS, which can depend only on votes from one race to win (though in two, or perhaps three states).
Please, let the old man rest to play with his grandchildren. His time has gone for good. Move on. Stop playing games with him.
Constitutional Supremacy: Readers must understand. This is about a unity government to replace Muhyiddin’s race-based government.
Unity government means all parties are invited, but as individuals. It will be there for a year plus until the next general election is called.
Since it is for a short period, one cannot have a greenhorn PM because he would be spending time learning the job and would make many mistakes, as Muhyiddin has done.
It is probable that the different parties will support Mahathir as a temporary measure as his 24 years at the helm earlier. From day one he can move. He can be expected to quickly tackle issues of the attorney-general (AG), MACC chief, House speaker, etc.
No wonder Muhyiddin is now offering the deputy PM post to Umno. He must have become aware of the moves and thus his rush for a state of emergency.
Anonymous Observer: You can't have a unity government sans PKR and DAP.
This is yet another game Mahathir is trying to spin, probably promoting himself as the kingmaker.
It's obvious that he's trying to make a comeback.
In a unity government, there has to be proper representation of all major races in this country, unlike the present government.
Two Come Out: Any government formed by this man should and can only be called a divisive government and can never be a unity government.
There was already a unity government. It was called Harapan and this troublemaker wrecked it.
MS: So, as we can see, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's repeated "stop politicking" advice has fallen on the (occasionally) deaf ears of these old "leaders". By "politicking" in this manner and posting pictures on Facebook, they are really setting a great example.
In line with the coot's "kepimpinan melalui teladan", everyone lower down the totem pole is being given the green-light to do likewise. It is open season on Bersatu.
Fair Play: So, the old man is trying his best to remain relevant. They say this - old soldiers never die, they fade away. But for some, they just need to disappear. - Mkini
