Worshippers Question Kkb Mosque Dress Code Banning Display Of Ph Malaysia Madani Logos
POLITICISING dress code seems to be a sore point as the much-awaited – make or break – Kuala Kubu Baharu (KKB) by-election comes to fruition.
Even the menfolk are not spared after popular pro-PAS 1980s artist and celebrity Dayangku Intan or her real name Tengku Intan Tengku Abdul Hamid ticked off DAP candidate Pang Sock Tao for donning the perceived female Muslim attire of baju kurung and tudung as displaying DAP’s hypocrisy towards Islam.
In the latest twist of events, a pro-Pakatan Harapan (PH) influencer has cried foul that a committee member of the Bandar Utama Batang Kali Mosque in the KKB vicinity has ordered supporters donning shirts bearing the coalition’s logo “to wear their shirts inside out”.
“This happened before my eyes and that of a living friend,” lamented Najib Bakar (@najib_bakar_) in a recent post on the X platform.
“Many aren’t satisfied. Even those worth Malaysia Madani shirts have to wear them inside out. This has nothing to do with political party.”
Ironically, Najib observed that such rule did not seem applicable to those with “PAS kepiah (skull cap) or PN (Perikatan Nasional) garb”.
“A chat with the local folks revealed that mosques here are dominated by walaun (PAS loyalists) … really fed-up with tribe who create hardship when one wants to perform prayer. But it’s fine for their own kind,” asserted the influencer who also tagged the Selangor state EXCO for Islamic Affairs and Cultural Innovation Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah on the matter.
In order not to stir up any commotion, Najib said worshippers respectfully donned their red shirts (PH colour) inside out, including “one pitiful brother who wore a white Malaysia Madani shirt”.
More discomforting for Najib is the very fact that Bersatu Youth chief, former Selangor UMNO chairman Tan Sri Noh Omar and Bachok MP/political secretary to PAS president Tan Sri Hadi Awang, Mohd Syahir Che Sulaiman. were allowed to perform their prayers in their PN uniform.
Interestingly, many netizens praised Najib for his compliance instead of retaliating to the order imposed by the errant mosque committee member.
To cut a long story short, many netizens wanted the Selangor state government and JAKIM (Department of Islamic Development Malaysia) to swiftly address the matter.
