Here is more mind blowing news from the Madani gomen. Their Ministry of Works (Kementerian Kerja Raya) - those fellows in the organisation chart above -  are planning to close roads in Cameron Highlands for certain hours during the weekends for commercial vehicles.

DAP assemblyman warned banning commercial vehicles in Cameron Highlands on weekends can impact supply of vegetables nationwide.

Tanah Rata assemblyman Ho Chi Yang said farmers would need to harvest and deliver vegetables to markets throughout Malaysia in the shortest possible time.

This is because the vegetables are easily perishable, he said.

“This disruption (to the delivery of vegetables) will eventually burden consumers and affect the government’s efforts to improve the country’s food security.

I urge the Works Ministry not to hastily implement this ban, to ensure a continuous food supply in Malaysia,” he said 
Works Ministry earlier announced commercial vehicles barred from part of federal roads in Cameron Highlands 10am-3pm during weekends, public holidays, school holidays from Feb 7.

Ho said there had been no discussions or explanation before the gazette on the ban was issued. 
He said this had led to confusion among farmers and transporters.

Consumers’ Association of Penang (CAP) claimed prices of vegetables skyrocketed more than 160% in the last month.

CAP also said retailers, distributors and wholesalers had warned that prices of other vegetables might go up in the coming weeks.

The traffic jam in Cameron Highlands is bad during weekends, public holidays and school holidays.  The solution is to build more roads. Cameron Highlands is a very popular tourist attraction not only in Malaysia but it is world class. 
It is high time there is a comprehensive master-plan to develop the entire Cameron Highlands. It has to be developed bigger and better. 
But in the debate over the chicken and the egg (yang mana datang dulu) it is the vegetable farming in Cameron Highlands that came first. Above everything else Cameron Highlands is the vegetable garden of Malaysia and also a very important part of Malaysia's food supply and food security. 
Every day thousands of trucks, vans, pickups and other commercial vehicles drive up and down Cameron Highlands delivering vegetables, fruits, flowers, fertilisers, farming equipment, farm supplies etc. They have been doing this for over 100 years now.

That is the primary purpose of Cameron Highlands. Jangan lupa ok. The tourism is a spin off from the vegetable farming. The tourism is a by product of the vegetable farming. 
Without the vegetable farms there will be no tourism in Cameron Highlands.
So do not mess with the vegetable farmers.

If you ban lorries and commercial vehicles from Cameron highlands, even for a few hours, it will disrupt the food supply chain in Cameron Highlands that has been operating quite well for almost 100 years.
As the YB DAP says vegetables are perishable. They will become rosak very quickly. If the vegetables sit on the lorry or sit by the roadside for FIVE HOURS (10 am - 3 pm) they will go bad. 
All the modern housewives in Malaysia, Japan, Africa, Russia, Canada, China they go to the market on weekends. Saturday and Sunday. You go to the carwash on the weekend. You go to the barber on the weekend. Your wife will go to the market on the weekend.

If you close the roads in Cameron Highlands on Saturday, Sunday and during public holidays then there will be a shortage of vegetables from Penang to Johor Bharu to Kuantan on weekends.The prices of vegetables will go up.
KOS SARA HIDUP AKAN NAIK LAGI.
