Will Malaysia Be The Same Country Again
From Danny Sritharan
The sun will come up on Sunday morning whatever the result of the general election. But will Malaysia be the same country again?
The campaigns this time weren’t about hope and change but were based on fear, loathing and revenge, and annoyingly, who will be the next prime minister.

Do you believe in anyone to fix a broken Malaysia? Are you convinced any of the three coalitions can unite the country?
Then, there are issues related to food, healthcare, housing and a generation of young people condemned to unemployment.
On that note, the winners of past elections failed after taking feeble steps to care for the people.
We face a stark choice. Do we vote to determine the direction of the country? Or do we conclude that we are incapable of voting out self-centred and power hungry political leaders?
At the moment, political parties seldom listen to us and hardly represent our views.
No one can predict the result with any certainty but if leaders with questionable integrity prevail, we will have missed a great opportunity to escape from their clutches.
That’s the nub of the argument, not the wild stories that have typified the irrational propaganda pumped out by a deeply unimpressive bunch of politicians.
How you vote on Saturday should depend on whether you have confidence that these politicians can be trusted to run the country.
We need lawmakers who genuinely want to build a “can-do” nation, not create a “something for nothing” society that winds up getting nothing for something. - FMT
